Notice under The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012On the 12 January 2022 East Sussex County Council intends to hold a meeting of the Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Health at which the following item will be considered: Workforce Recruitment and Retention Fund.

The purpose of the item is:                     

To seek approval for the use of the Government’s Workforce Recruitment and Retention Fund. East Sussex County Council has been allocated £4.98million and it is proposed to use this to provide funding for independent care providers.

 

Under the requirements of Regulation 9 of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 the Council is required to give 28 days’ notice of a key decision identified within the scope of these regulations. It is considered that the item referred to above would be a key decision and for the reasons of urgency outlined below, compliance is considered impracticable, and an exception to Regulation 9 is therefore sought under Regulation 10 of the above Regulations. It is considered impracticable to comply with the requirements of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 because: There is an urgent need to deploy this additional funding into the care sector as the earlier it is deployed the greater impact it will have on the retention of this essential element of the health and social care workforce.

 

Accordingly a copy of this notice shall be available pursuant to Regulation 5(6) for at least 5 clear days prior to 12 Jan 2022.
